Siemens Headquarters - Brazil

Oliveira Cotta was commissioned to design Siemens' new headquarters in São Paulo, located at Mutinga Avenue. The project brief required the application of the best practices of energy efficiency, focusing on the quality of internal spaces and daylighting. The building plan was carefully designed to provide natural ventilation for ali the work environments, in addition to external views to the site which is surrounded by a native forest preservation area. The building total area is 51,000 sqm, distributed into 12 floors: 6 floors for car parking use and 6 floors for office areas.
The new headquarters for Siemens will be applying for LEED platinum certification, thus sustainable strategies has guided the design since the conceptual phase. Natural ventilation and daylighting are the main strategies applied on the design in order to achieve significant energy savings. CFD, thermal and daylight simulations support the design. The site had great limitations in terms of space, since the topography was very irregular and most of the site’s area was covered by a remaining natural forest which was strictly protected by the environmental regulations. The solution to such a challenge was to create a multi storey parking lot, partially under ground level.
