In 2021-22, Oliveira Cotta developed the design for the National Infrastructure School to be established within UNB in Brasília, Brazil. This 7,730.40-square-meter educational project sets a high standard for educational spaces, featuring common areas designed to prioritize human scale and foster a welcoming atmosphere. Here, students and professionals will find a green educational environment, where aesthetic value is paired with responsive bioclimatic design. The educational complex will synergistically host a variety of uses, including university spaces, research laboratories on the ground floors, office buildings, cafeterias, museums, and exhibition areas. To optimize the master plan, these different functions are distributed across separate blocks, strategically positioned to maximize natural light while minimizing direct solar radiation on façades. The central courtyard serves as a collective gathering space, designed to provide outdoor thermal comfort through evaporative cooling strategies, incorporating a reflective water feature and lush greenery.
