The Syngenta Office Building in Uberlândia, MG, combines functionality with a contextual sensitivity to its surroundings. Starting from an existing structure, a partial demolition was carried out—necessary to meet program requirements—while preserving part of the original structure. A new “skin” envelops the original building, creating a continuous architectural language throughout the project. As a ground-level office building, the interior spaces were designed with high ceilings and roof openings for skylight, contributing to a spacious and high-quality work environment by bringing natural light into the deeper areas of the floor plans.
With a focus on reducing carbon emissions and energy consumption, the building was designed to enable cross-ventilation, maintaining thermal comfort in interior spaces without the need for artificial cooling for six months of the year. This research and development center has earned LEED Silver certification, further embedding the project within an environmental framework. Environmentally responsible features, such as brise-soleils and photovoltaic panels, enhance the building’s energy performance. The installation of solar panels alone has been proven to reduce approximately 297 tons of CO² emissions annually.
